Study in Europe for Free with Erasmus Mundus (for international Students)

Erasmus Mundus is a scholarship provided by a group of European Universities which co-operates with each other and students have to spend their semesters in the universities participating in this program. I.e. you will be studying in more than one university and in more than a country.

The aim is to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with third countries.

The Erasmus Mundus programmes provide support to:

Higher education institutions that wish to implement joint programmes at postgraduate level or to set-up inter-institutional cooperation partnerships between universities from Europe and targeted Third-Countries.

individual students, researchers and university staff who wish to spend a study / research / teaching period in the context of one of the above mentioned joint programmes or cooperation partnerships;

any organization active in the field of higher education that wishes to develop projects aiming at enhancing the attractiveness, profile, visibility and image of European higher education worldwide .

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

It covers your tuition fee, travelling expenses (flight ticket/train ticket/bus ticket in and around the Europe since you will be travelling between countries and universities in europe) and also students are given a stipend depending upon the program of around 800 Euros a month. Virtually you are not going to spend anything!!

Since the Erasmus Programs policy changes every four years or so I will concentrate mainly on programs available for students in which they can apply and get benefit of the scholarship.

1) Joint Programmes including scholarships

This program is aimed at students who want to participate in a course supported by the Erasmus participating institution.

Steps to apply for Erasmus Programs:-
·       Check the program from the above link and decide which program you want to apply for
·       Go to the website given in the right column of the pdf above and check the requirements and eligibility.
·       If eligible directly apply for the given program through that website itself. You may be asked to pay/deposit an application fee for the program as well.
·       Also, don’t forget to courier your documents (original/notarized) as asked to the respective un      iversity as asked in that website.

Keep in mind that you may apply to a maximum of 3 different Joint Programmes (Masters Courses and/or Joint Doctorates combined) per selection year. Therefore, students are usually requested to specify on the application form if you have applied to more than one programme.

France finally changes visa policy for Indian students

In one of my previous post I had explained how visa extension rule has become such important while short listing countries for higher studies and the amount of importance students gives to work permit and visa extension to search for a job. http://studyabroadcounselling.blogspot.in/2013/06/countries-where-you-can-immigratesettle.html The reason countries like USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are enjoying immense success in terms of higher education and the reason why UK has fallen as the top choice for higher education for students in India is because of the work visa which in the former countries is given for 2 years or more to search for job while in the later it was reduced to 4 months.

Best Country To Work and Settle In Europe

I am almost finished with my masters and have few job offers. I did a lot of research when I started applying for jobs and found out many things and realized many mistakes I did but also many opportunities which is open out there where I can work and earn and have fun, European Union is huge and diverse and there are a lots of countries where you can move to after finishing your masters. Even though the VISA you have or get after finishing your masters is a job search visa , which is valid for 18 months (if you have graduated from Germany or else it varies from 6 months to 1 year) you can convert it to a work visa or blue card depending upon your salary and your employer. If your salary is more than 48,000 (for someone who has not graduated from a German university ) or 38,000 (For someone who has graduated from a German University) then after probation period you get a blue card for 2 years to work and stay in European Union. With this blue card you can work like a normal Eu...
