I am currently pursuing my masters in Automotive Software Engineering (ASE) from tu chemnitz. when i came here along with so many students who were about to start their masters in Micro and Nano Systems (MNS), Information and Communication Systems (ICS) , Print and media technology and ofcourse ASE, oddly few felt that the courses like MNS,ICS does not have much scope in India and they tried to switch to ASE. The reason being (according to their view point) ASE has an internship and has much better scope probably in India (which is kinda weird since even automotive industry is at its inception in India compared to communcation which is an established field). 

First of all let me apologize for such a long delay in my posts . The reason being my laziness, my interests in roaming around the saxony and probably I had forget about this blog for few days. But here I am with my latest experience about the studies in Germany but today my main focus is on TUC (CHEMNITZ).                                            It has been more than a month since I have come to Chemnitz city and have experienced the education methodology used in Germany or in particular in Chemnitz university of Technology.

Indian economy is in a perilous turmoil. With the US $ and other currency rate increasing day by day its getting difficult to for students to manage their finances. Students who were going to pay around 25 Laks tution fee (in Indian currency) have to pay around 8-10 Laks more now. And apart from that the living cost has increased as well. 

In this page we will post articles which are being sent to us by guest posts. If you have graduated from any college/university you can share your experience, if you have spent your semester abroad then you can share that as well so that other can get an idea and get benefit from that experience  If you attended any visa interview or have faced any problems in any kinda procedure you can share that as well since it will make other students to avoid that problem (and here please don't be selfish and leave other students to suffer just because you had to suffer). This page will be about a head on comparison between two things which are quite similar but with minute differences and which generally confuses students and their decisions. And that's why the page name versus aka VS.  It can be either two courses in two universities- example like Msc IC design in HKUST VS Msc Analog IC design in Imperial College. It can be direct comparison between colleges-example like NTU vs KAIST   It can be direct comparison between two level of courses- example Master of Engineering or Master of Science OR anything Which are related to some way and people get confused which one to choose. The posts in this page will be published like a tabular column with things compared and explained in the two rows. For example the comparison will be between two entities as shown below with each column focussing on an element. For example consider HKUST VS NTU. Entity A is HKUST and Entity B will be NTU. And element can be tuition fee, Research etc etc. ENTIT

In one of my previous post I had explained how visa extension rule has become such important while short listing countries for higher studies and the amount of importance students gives to work permit and visa extension to search for a job. http://studyabroadcounselling.blogspot.in/2013/06/countries-where-you-can-immigratesettle.html The reason countries like USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are enjoying immense success in terms of higher education and the reason why UK has fallen as the top choice for higher education for students in India is because of the work visa which in the former countries is given for 2 years or more to search for job while in the later it was reduced to 4 months.

The reason being these countries provide a visa extension up to a minimum of one year (Singapore doesn’t but if you study there in a subsidized fee then you get three year visa). And it is really easy to get a PR in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore than in any other country around the world.

Each year more than 1.5 million students around the globe leave their country and go for higher education abroad. Of this 30% students go to USA (about 1/3 rd ), 15% to UK (as of 2013), 15% to Australia & New Zealand, 20% to Europe (all the countries in Europe included), 15% to Canada and Ireland, 5% Asia (mostly to Singapore, Hong Kong and China). Very few people go for Japan.  

Erasmus Mundus is a scholarship provided by a group of European Universities which co-operates with each other and students have to spend their semesters in the universities participating in this program. I.e. you will be studying in more than one university and in more than a country. The aim is to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with third countries.

You have just graduated or currently pursuing a course which required practical training? Then it might be just the right choice for you to apply for an internship/training in an industry. An internship whether paid or unpaid will equip students with practical experience in the working world and also helps students in deciding whether they want to really work in that profession or they should switch with some other job. Thus, an employer certainly looks out for any internship or practical training the student has undergone during his career and this part keeps you apart from other students who virtually did not had the taste of the job world and the commitments accompanying it.

Students choose Canadian universities for its quality education, the environment, peace and some of the indirect factors which will help them in future. The factors which students give much more importance nowadays are permanent residence and job prospects in Canada. In Canada each and every province has got its own government rules and even the PR rule and application process changes in each province.

When going for higher education most of the students blindly go ahead with the country of their preference rather than analyzing where exactly the course which they want to pursue is thriving currently and has better job opportunities . Whether it be mechanical engineering,  civil engineering or electrical engineering, or a non-engineering course in India students prefer USA more than any other country. But is USA really overall the best study abroad destination for all the courses and all the departments? To clear this notion this post will list some of the countries which are better than USA in some of the courses and departments for better research and job opportunities. In one of my previous blog post I had mentioned  several criteria students consider while opting for higher education http://studyabroadcounselling.blogspot.in/2013/06/countries-where-you-can-immigratesettle.html In that priority list we found that students consider the university ranking among one of the top five criteria while selecting the university. Even while reading many blog posts and inquiries you can find students who opt for programs which they are not completely interested but they had decided to go with it because the university providing it was a renowned and higher ranked university than the university which was providing a course in which the student had interest.

Many students want to work abroad and get some experience before leaving for their home country after completing their higher education. In my opinion one should really try to stay back and gather some relevant work experience if they are getting a job offer abroad after finishing their studies since:-

English is the common tongue which is currently used by people from different communities, regions and cultures to interact. Advent of globalization has pushed countries to expand their territories beyond their headquarters and people on the other hand are ready to do almost anything to be competitive and take challenges for their career. English being spoken in most countries now has reduced the urge in people to learn extra languages and language is no more a barricade to interact in companies anywhere in the world. Then why learn an extra language when almost the whole world is following the common tongue and trying to learn it. In what way an extra language can boost career prospects?

When it comes to higher education , the first few countries and might be the last few countries which comes to mind is USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore……Hmmmmm that’s it. And we start exploring colleges in these countries. This is the mentality with most of the students and thus the competition is very high in these countries no matter whether the universities are popular or not. I.e. even the low ranked universities in these countries manage to find students. In my previous post I talked about how much risk you might be taking in case you are applying to a low ranked university in USA and the dollar dream might turn out to be entirely different. In this post I will be talking about one of the best alternatives for students looking for higher education abroad apart from USA. And the alternative is none other than the land of innovation Germany. 

This is the year 2013 and day by day study abroad is getting popular. Countries like India and China are the major exports of human resources in and around the world for countries like USA, UK, AUS, CANADA etc. But after the recession and few visa changes is it really worth it to go for higher education and if the answer is "YES" then where exactly should one go. Almost instantly when someone thinks to study for his masters or bachelors abroad the first country which someone thinks of is USA. The land of opportunities.

This is my second blog (the first being focused on my robotics) and the reason for starting this blog was well due to frustration, immense waste of time and money which I had to endure by applying to universities through consultancies rather than on my own and my heart which inspired me to start something which can be useful to young aspirants who are looking to study abroad with dreams and aspirations and help them in choosing the right path without wasting money for it. Incredibly I spent 40000+ INR money on my consultancy and the bad news, well i got rejected from almost all the universities to which i had applied through them.               It was a wake up call for me and then after 1 year of research and data gathering through net and direct visits to education fairs, I realized that going to the consultancy was the worst idea ever and that  I could have done everything on my own. Next thing , I was applying on my own and voila I got offer from 90% of the universities.
